Who Wants to Have a Dumb Baby?
The other day I met a guy and we began to discuss what our business is all about. We explained that we create educational baby dvds and baby flash cards so parents can teach their babies to read during the early formative years. He immediately grasped what we do. He got all excited and said that it makes perfect sense that by watching something again and again a baby would understand and learn to read. His children are all grown, but he mentioned that during the first years of life we are filling them up with information and when they begin to speak they just spill over all the things they have been learning. They are like little machines, processing all the information that surrounds them.

He is a really upbeat and excited guy and he said something that was profound but it really made me laugh. He said that selling educational products to parents should be simple to do because what parent wants to have a dumb baby? He said, "I don't care who you are. No parent wants to have a dumb kid. If you could buy some educational baby dvds for $20 to help you have a smarter baby, why wouldn't you?"
My thoughts exactly, but never verbalized quite that way.
